Breaking the Ice!
Kemi
LocationKemi is located right in the heart of Finland next to the sea. It is known as the City of Sea and Snow and combines unique and exhilarating activities which are ideal for any corporate event. With its own airport close to the city transfers are short so there is more time to enjoy the activities. AccommodationYou can stay in a modern hotel in the city that is central to all the amenities or experience accommodation in chalets overlooking the frozen sea offering the unique combination of natural surroundings and traditions with fully equipped high quality facilities. We can arrange for you to stay at the Snow Castle in Kemi or a Snow Lodge in a more rural setting for an unusual team building venue.
Activities Available:
Ice Breaker Trip As you sail through the freezing Arctic waters, the massive cruising vessel slowly crushes its way through the ice, starting with the smallest of cracks, you can watch the crack spread through the sheet of ice, splitting it in two, and enabling your onward progress. On board the icebreaker the program consists of a visit to the engine room and the bridge, lunch in the ship`s cozy restaurant, and for the truly adventurous, you will be able to don wet suits and have an arctic swim in the holes the ship has just made – amazing! Snow Challenge and Relaxation Visit a private lodge in the forest by the sea where you can try some teambuilding games on the frozen sea such as tandem skiing, snowshoe relays, fire building, quadbike slalom and reindeer driving followed by a traditional sauna, hot tub and plunge into ice cold water to complete the experience. Dinner can be cooked on an open fire in the restaurant and you can spend the night in the Snow Lodge which provides igloo accommodation for up to 24 people. Snow Castle Whether you just want a short visit to look around and have a drink in the ice bar, enjoy dinner in the ice restaurant or do the whole thing and stay overnight, you will be amazed at the work that goes into creating such a magical place. Ice Fishing Try your hand at this very popular pastime in Finland. You can drill a hole in the ice and then wait for the fish to bite! If you are lucky enough to catch something it can be cooked for you on a barbecue while you try a traditional smoke sauna. Snowmobile Safari We can offer safaris from as little as an hour duration up to 8 hours where you go through forests, over the frozen sea and cross the border into Sweden. You can combine a safari with another activity such as ice fishing or the Ice Breaker trip. You can also try a snowmobile safari at night in search of the Northern Lights which offers quite a contrast to the trips during the day. Husky Safari This is a must while in Lapland. You will visit a genuine Husky Farm where the dogs are friendly and eager to take you on a sleigh-ride. First you will learn how to drive the husky team which typically consists of 5 or 6 dogs. After practicing the basic command words and sled control you will set off on your safari two people share a sled and take turns in driving the team and sitting in the sleigh as passenger. Ice Rallying You will learn how to drive on the ice and snow from Finnish semi professionals. You will sit in the co pilot’s seat while a pro is at the wheel during the 3.4 km track that winds its way through the forest. Then you take the wheel on the 1.3 km oval track and are timed against your fellow drivers. You will also have time to improve your driving skills on a slippery surface of ice and snow to complete the day.
